The NSS unit operates in alignment with the objectives and guidelines of the Government of India and serves as a structured platform for student participation in socially relevant activities. It enables students to understand the social environment in which they live and to apply their academic knowledge for the benefit of society.

Through continuous community-oriented programmes, the NSS unit at KNRR fosters values such as civic responsibility, national integration, leadership, ethical conduct, teamwork, and democratic values.

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

To develop socially conscious, ethically responsible, and service-oriented youth who actively contribute to inclusive growth, sustainable development, and national progress.

Our Mission

To provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage in community service, enhance leadership skills, promote ethical values, and foster social responsibility by integrating academic learning with real-world challenges.

NSS Activities & Outreach

During the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26, the NSS unit organized and actively participated in a wide range of extension and outreach programmes addressing health awareness, environmental sustainability, social welfare, national importance, youth development, and constitutional values.

Major initiatives included programmes related to public health, mental well-being, yoga, anti-drug awareness, blood donation, cleanliness drives, environmental protection, voter awareness, and the observance of important national and international days.

These initiatives provided students with valuable experiential learning opportunities and strengthened their sense of social accountability.

NSS Symbol & NSS Day

The NSS symbol, derived from the Rath wheel of the Konark Sun Temple, symbolizes movement, continuity, and progress. It represents the philosophy of continuous service and transformation, reinforcing the NSS objective of sustained social upliftment through collective effort.

NSS Day is observed annually on 24th September, commemorating the launch of the National Service Scheme in 1969, coinciding with the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi.

At KNRR, NSS Day is observed through structured programmes that emphasize Gandhian ideals of selfless service, discipline, social harmony, and national integration.

Impact of NSS at KNRR

Through sustained and well-structured efforts, the NSS unit at KNRR has contributed significantly to the holistic development of students. The programme nurtures leadership qualities, teamwork, democratic values, ethical conduct, and a deep sense of community engagement.

“Education finds its true purpose when knowledge meets service.”
